Hi josh,
I'm going to be upfront and tell you that I don't know much abou this breed and have never bred or even handled one, so don't take my coments too seriosly. They both look really nice! I think the cock bird looks to have too short of a back, but it could just be the way he is standing. Maybe the hackle is a bit too thick or the neck too short? The close up of the hens head looks a bit crow headed, but in the overall picture it doesn't look that way at all. Nice small combs and wattles, great wing carriage on both. The tails don't look to big. They could maybe use a bit more on the chest and the body angle could be a bit lower, but that could just be the picture. So to sum it up, with my limited knowledge, they look very good from what I can see. Once again, I don't actually know what I'm talking about but maybe someone that knows more can point out everything I said wrong. Lol

Yes the legs and neck in the rooster are a bit short i think I have came up with most of the faults that need improving.
thanks for the comment josh

Good morning Visserspoultry. I just got a look at your birds. If I may....
Your bird in molt...on that pictures, for me is a big no...way to short. Doesn't have that ¨fighting¨look, the pride.
The cockrel (3 pictures above), I like it generally. I would have like to see more round chest. But a good selection there should be no problem at all.
It is not easy hein? I am still fighting with high tails. I bought 12 chicks from the Lescault blue line last year. One cockerel is not bad and will be my breeding boy for next year hatchs. Cross my fingers.
Good luck
Isabelle

I understand that since I started with birds that have defects also. Very hard to find nice birds. At least I was able to buy some genetic Oka birds and I have the pedigree...that is good. Now my birds are nicer in shape. Just have to select good.

Sorry...I was out for a while... I like that one... Still work to do with rounding the chest so there is no ¨breaking¨in the ¨roudness¨ (sorry I lack english vocabulary here ) and maybe, shorten the tail a bit, but otherwise...for me at least, he is really really nice. But since I am not a long time breeder, I wold like to have one's point of view, for deatils we can't see... isabelle

What do you mean by better rounding of the chest. I think I get what you are saying but do you got any good pictures of a nice round chest. The main, sickle in the tail could be a little tighter thanks for having me look at it twice almost missed that, comb could be better but i do like him a lot compared to my other birds.

Well done visserspoultry! I agree, there's lots of good things to say about that bird! Some of the obvious things I noticed right away are the beautiful yellow legs, nice head with great comb and wattles. He stands well balanced with his legs under him nicely, and with a good wide stance. Good tail and wing carriage and nice length of back. He looks very nice. I would agree he needs to fill out more and put on more weight, but he's young and will hopefully mature to a good size. I aim for 8.5 - 9 lbs in my male breeders at 1 yr old, and if possible I prefer to err a bit on the heavy side, since it seems weights in a Chant flock can start to slide back easily.
