I've had Call Ducks before but never kept over winter. I picked up a pr st Wdstk fall sale put them in a large 16x24'outside on ground wire pen with large covered area at back . I used a kids 4' rd pool for them to drink & play in . Worked well . I put them in a 4x8' enclosure on floor with straw shavings floor & little bx shelter for nite . I give them a small tub of water room for one in at a time 4" high which as you know makes a real mess all over & now with this freezing weather ice in that corner . Freshened up twice a day . I now use a round pigeon feeder/water bowl 12" across wire bar sides & top blue color the kind that Glen B sells . Works well but they do miss bath so twice a week I give them the tub back . What do you guys use ?

Still learning this iPad deal. That is the style of raised pen I use Ross. Ideally I'd like my ducks to be on the ground to have all the natural goodies they could ever need. I find that having raised wire bottom eons is great and functions for me. I am to condition birds better for shows etc. I am feeling is year I am gonna make some wire bottomed pens that are on e ground and see if that does anything different for me.
Will post some more pics later on as well.
This winter has been unreal. Normally I wrap that style of pen in plastic and bed heavy with straw. Having a first free tap outside also aids in having fresh water daily to the birds. My theory is ducks are meant to swim and I give me all opportunities I can to do it. If they are bedded sufficient they preen and dry out but need to be protected from the wind and snow. But, that being said I've broken down and moved ducks inside to my coop with a huge shaving and straw pack. My theory is a dead duck produces nothing.

Yep Darren as the NASCAR guys say " yu gotta be there at the end to win " I've got some 30x48" wire pens used for rabbits at one time . Plan on using one if them for this pr during the day in summer then I can pick it up & hang it & them inside predator proof at nite. Yea thinking of goin back to open small tub for winter , ducks do like it better . Those standup duck pens / wire floors look similar to the old beagle pens I used back in the 60's some still do .

Those were fox pens at one point. Keep in mind if you are ever in need of more wire I know of a sweet source
