I am trying to gather as much info as possible on this breed. Especially, Speckled Sussex! If you know of any good books or have any good articles, please let me know.
Thanks, Woodsy

Hello,
I am looking for some help on speckled genetics. Currently, I have about 30 male and 30 female speckled sussex. I have culled down to a lot of nice type and size birds. When it comes to genetics, do the off spring get the coloring from male and type from females? If so, am I better to cull out the males that have a lot of peppering on primaries? Also, I have a really nice young male that is much bigger than the rest but he has a spring in the comb. Do I cull him or keep him for breeding? Lots of questions!!!!! Don't want to cull too much but feed bills are getting really high!
Thanks for any info I can get. If you need pics, let me know.
Cheers, Woodsy

I have a few of them Speckled Sussex, just started keeping them this year.
A good contact about this breed is Don Emke(519) 364-2149. I spoke to him last month and found him very knowledgeable. He is not computer literate...
I am told he has raised Speckled Sussex for many years. He has decided to make a limited quantity of fertile eggs available for sale. $24 a dozen. I have an order in for new bloodlines.
