This is how I keep my birds when I'm breeding them or prepping them for show. In the summer every cage gets a cockerel. This works good for me. What does everyone else do?

Wow, nice set up Dave! How many are you keeping over the winter? Keep up the good work!

thanks Brian. I have cages for twenty, but I'm only keeping four trios for breeding and one extra trio as backups for anything that goes wrong. I will pair them up two ways. Two rounds to balance faults and aim for the show bench, then one round with pairs that have similar strengths, or just risky pairs, to aim for "special" breeding birds. I can only get sixteen toe punch number, so that's where I'll cap it. Lol. What about you?

I have kept a few speckled sussex pullets and plan on breeding them to their F1. In white rocks, my son and I have two good lines that we are going to keep pure but maybe try crossing them to make a third line. Cayugas, I have kept a couple of nice drakes and will throw them on the females in March.
Are ya going to Sarnia? Should be a good show.
Cheers, Brian

I am planning on going to Sarnia. It is a difficult place to get to from here in the winter, but I'm sure we will figure it out.
