what is the best feed combination for growing O Shamos, i need to cut down on protein levels

Well, i haven't had much luck getting an answer any where else either.... so here is what i have changed. instead of 1 part Purina Flock Raiser ( 20% protein)i found Purnina Gamebird mix ( 15 % protein) i am mixing it with 3 parts scratch grain and 1 part black oil sunflower.

Troy has some good stuff on what he feeds his moderns on his web page. I'm guessing it should be about the same for shamos. Both are hard feathered game fowl... featherspectrum.m.webs.com

I would suggest adding more fat to the diet... but in the way of oil... when I had them this was a concern.. you need to build good bone structure with them being so leggy... fat aids in this .. as well as calcium. When it comes to feed I do not worry much about protein... anything much more than 16 % goes out in the pile back of the coop.... and only helps to burn out their livers. Fat aids in producing the necessary marrow for good bones. My suggestion sunflower oil or cod liver oil.. both as top dressing of hard grains.... with that in moderation.. about 3 times a week. TL

thanks Guys. Carl stopped in with Paul this week and he seems pretty happy with the young birds. i will try the cat food we actually sell it at TSC.
